I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”-Michelangelo

One Last Thought

Michelangelo’s David sculpture was the result of his being asked to complete an unfinished project begun in 1464 by Agostino di Duccio and later carried on by Antonio Rossellino in 1475. The two prior sculptors had, in the end, rejected the project, because of an enormous block of marble that they felt had too many imperfections. Just like Michelangelo’s block of marble, we have many imperfections, that’s what makes us human. If we accept that, remain patient, and focus on the process, we can make ourselves into our own works of art. Forward, always!
