Welcome back or welcome to, the Lawyer’s Well-being Brief. Every week, I share insights and tools to help us improve our well-being. This week I’m sharing tips from Noble Purpose — The Joy of Living a Meaningful Life, written by William Damon

About William Damon

William Damon is a professor at Stanford University and senior fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution. He is one of the world’s leading scholars of human development. Damon has done pioneering research on the development of purpose in life and wrote the influential book The Path to Purpose.

What?

Noble Purpose — The Joy of Living a Meaningful Life explores the concept of living a purposeful life. Damon argues that discovering and pursuing a noble purpose — something larger than oneself — leads to a deeper sense of fulfillment and happiness. He emphasizes the importance of aligning personal values with actions and explores how individuals can find meaning through contributions to society and personal growth. The book combines psychological insights with philosophical reflections to guide readers toward a more meaningful existence.
