“Mystery creates wonder and wonder is the basis of our desire to understand.”-Neil Armstrong

Welcome (back) to the Lawyer’s Well-Being Brief! Each week, I share insights and practical strategies to help us cultivate well-being and thrive — both personally and professionally.

In today’s world, finding moments of peace and clarity can seem like an impossible task. Yet, Jon Kabat-Zinn’s Mindfulness for Beginners offers a beacon of hope, guiding us towards a more mindful and fulfilling life. This practical guide introduces the transformative practice of mindfulness, helping us reclaim the present moment and our lives.

Who is Jon Kabat-Zinn?

Jon Kabat-Zinn is an American professor emeritus of medicine and the creator of the Stress Reduction Clinic and the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Kabat-Zinn was a student of Zen Buddhist teachers such as Philip Kapleau, Thich Nhat Hanh, and Seung Sahn, and a founding member of Cambridge Zen Center. His practice of hatha yoga, Vipassanā and appreciation of the teachings of Soto Zen and Advaita Vedanta led him to integrate their teachings with scientific findings.
