The Lawyer’s Well-Being Brief
What can we learn from Women’s and Men’s NCAA Championship Point Guards?
“You can’t use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have.”-Maya Angelou
Welcome back or welcome to, the Lawyer’s Well-being Brief. Every week, I share insights and tools to help us improve our well-being. This week we look at what we can learn from two NCAA Championship point guards.
Who are the NCAA Championship Point Guards?
Te-Hina Paopao was the starting point guard for the NCAA Women’s Championship University of South Carolina women’s basketball team for the 2023–2024 season. Tristen Newton was the starting point guard for the NCAA Men’s Championship UConn men’s basketball team for the 2023–2024 season.
Although Paopao and Newton were their teams’ respective starting point guards, the point guards we can learn from are Dawn Staley and Danny Hurley.
Before Dawn Staley was a 3× NCAA Division I Tournament championship coach with the University of South Carolina (2017, 2022, 2024), and before Dan Hurley was a 2× NCAA Division I Tournament championship coach with the University of Connecticut, they were both point guards. Staley played point guard for the University of Virginia and Hurley played point guard for Seton Hall University.
