Welcome back or welcome to, the Lawyer’s Well-being Brief. Every week, I share insights on ways to improve our well-being. We are back to Pillar # 4 today, Mindset. Our mindset like the other Pillars of Well-being is really important during the holidays.

Many people find that for all the potential joy the holidays can bring, they can also bring about the same amount of stress, if not more. It can be the jam-packed social calendar causing us to have less time, financial pressures and deadlines at work, gift giving, family gatehrings, the loss of a loved one or loved ones, sunless winter days, or all of the above.

Here are a few tips to help us deal with the stress of the holidays.

Lets be mindful. Mindfulness is bringing our attention to the present moment with an element of nonjudgment and acceptance. Mindfullness allows us to notice when we get caught up in thoughts about the past or the future, and returning our attention to the present.

Accept imperfection. Perfection is not reality, imperfection is reality. Everything is not going to go as planned. If we go shopping, we have to expect there to be lines, if we order gifts online, we have to expect delays in…
