Welcome (back) to the Lawyer’s Well-Being Brief! Each week, I share insights and practical strategies to help us cultivate well-being and thrive — both personally and professionally. This week, I’m applying productivity principles to our well-being process.
Start your day with what fuels you
Begin our morning with activities that nourish our body and mind — whether it’s movement, journaling, or mindful breathing. Research shows that the first hour after waking sets the tone for the rest of our day. Find the best time for our morning routine using the 30–3–11 rule: ~30 minutes, ~3 hours, or ~11 hours after waking. These times are when our motivation and focus are at their peak, says Stanford professor Andrew Huberman. This is due to our so-called circadian rhythm.
Prioritize what truly matters
Well-being thrives on intentional living. Instead of overwhelming ourselves with endless tasks, focus on one priority at a time. Timeboxing — scheduling dedicated blocks for self-care, movement, and deep work — can help us stay present and stress-free…
